The image: a boy seated upon a limb
outside of a girl's window. he peeks in at her and
she discovers him; she throws open the window and~
and.
and the propriety of his actions, then, can be accounted for
by her disposition vis-a-vis him.

If she is not interested,
he is
a cad, a peeping-tom, a sex-criminal, a blackguard, a rogue, a predator of
women.

And if she fancies him,
or finds his actions amusing,
he is
let into the window as a romantic, a silly fool, a friend,
a lover.

it is the same fellow seated upon the limb.
and ever so precariously.
